Changes in Employment Laws in Dubai
Changing times Require changes in the laws and regulations. The COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown imposed as a result of the pandemic forced businesses to adjust the way they operated. Businesses all over the world introduced flexible structures for their employees and allowed employees to work from home. These changes in working conditions required certain changes in laws and regulations related to the employment and working hours of employees. Additionally, while private employers readily implemented updated working structures, the same was needed for government employees as well. Federal Decree-Law no. 33 of 2021 of the UAE, was recently introduced to ensure efficiency amongst all labour functions in the UAE. The government of the UAE announced a four-and-a-half-day workweek for all government employees. The workweek started from Monday to Friday, with Friday being a half day.
